Would we have never met otherwise?

How have you adapted to the changes brought on by the Covid-19 pandemic?

A friend in the USA asked me late last year, how we were handling the pandemic in Ghana. My response was, “what pandemic?” And I wasn’t even trying to be funny.

COVID-19 did not last past 2020 for us in Ghana.
To start, a huge majority of us did not believe it was real at all. We went into lockdown for 2 weeks, during which all covid protocols were observed till you arrived at the market where none of it was observed at all.

The lockdown period was actually when people went visiting family and friends the most as people got time off work. Nobody turned anyone away in fear of contracting the virus.

Wearing a mask didn’t last 3 months when our president announced we can do whatever we want with that. Wear it or don’t.
Personally, it was a don’t.

Any COVID rule I observed was because I had to. A number of times I was asked in the supermarket to put on my mask. My dad sew me quite a number of the reusable ones too. I usually carry one on me and put it on when I come to a ‘no mask no entry’ place.

People got covid in Ghana but the total number was extremely exaggerated, apparently WHO gave countries funding based on how severe the situation was there.

By the end of 2020, nobody cared about covid in Ghana. People had to be convinced to get the shot. Lots of us never got it.

In my personal life, there were changes, pivotal moments and people I met that I sometimes wonder if my storyline would have followed the same path if COVID-19 had not happened.

I can’t imagine what would have happened instead and so will just accept that the current path was the only option, or the one I would have eventually taken regardless.

I’m grateful for the people I met, and the things I couldn’t do because of COVID-19.
The people it brought into my life is the major long term change or effect covid had on me.
The next will be not going to live in China for 3 years.

Everything else remained fairly the same.

  1. This confirms that the pandemic was massively exaggerated in Western Europe and that the African countries dealt way better and more realistically with Covid.

Thanks for sharing this. Have a great day 🙏

    1. I agree that it was most definitely exaggerated elsewhere, except if weather conditions were indeed an influence as some claimed, and so possible it was in fact more serious there than here.

      Thank you for visiting Chris🤗.
